Pakistan team could easily reach the final of Hockey Champions Trophy by improving their finishing firepower inside the circle against the Netherlands in the semi-final, former Olympian Hasan Sardar said on Friday. "This is great opportunity for Pakistan as they have been playing beautifully in the competition," he said on the eve of the semi-final. He complimented Pakistan attack and defence which he said paved the way for their reaching the pre-final.

He said Pakistan dominated the match against youthful German team but they missed nearly half dozen chances. "We must curtail this habit. "Experience Shakeel Abbasi put an up sparkling performance and scored the brace of goals in the triumph. He must improve his finishing," he commented.

"Abbasi is a big threat for Dutch team and improved show will be key factor in the outcome of the semi-finals," Hasan Sardar, Pakistan's top spearhead of yesteryears said. "I am impressed with our marked improvement in our defence and goal-keeper Imran had been outstanding in almost every game," he mentioned.

"In the modern day hockey, custodian played vital role in success of the team. He defended remarkable well against Australia and other games. Imran's show is heartening," he added. He said despite the losing the league game against, the Netherlands, Pakistan enjoy an edge over the Dutch because they play open game as compared Germany's packed defence.

"We got to be consistent in all areas of the game and keep defending astutely and avoid mistakes inside the circle on attacks", Hasan Sardar maintained. He said both Pakistan and Indian teams are more experienced teams as that is why they are doing well. However, he said boys must forget the past and start afresh with new vigour and goals.
